Engine Capital

A specialist finance and lending business focused on originating, assessing, and settling high-value loan applications through a network of brokers, referrers, and business development managers (BDMs).

The Challenge

Engine Capital was managing its sales pipeline, broker network, loan applications, and settlements through Pipedrive. While the CRM captured a large amount of operational data, leadership struggled to answer critical business questions:

  • Which brokers were driving the most value?
  • Where were deals getting stuck in the pipeline?
  • How were conversion rates trending over time?
  • Which team members were performing best?
  • What was the true value of the sales pipeline?

Reporting was largely manual, time-consuming, and lacked the visibility needed for confident decision-making.

How We Helped

We built an automated reporting solution that transformed raw CRM data into a centralized business intelligence platform.

First, we integrated directly with Pipedrive using its API and developed a Python-based data pipeline to extract and organize data from deals, activities, contacts, brokers, and pipeline stages.

The data was automatically synced into Google Sheets and visualized through a custom Looker Studio dashboard, providing real-time visibility into pipeline performance, settlements, broker activity, conversion rates, and team productivity.

To eliminate manual reporting, we deployed the solution on Google Cloud and scheduled automated daily data refreshes.

Results

  • Created a single source of truth for sales and operational performance
  • Eliminated manual reporting and spreadsheet consolidation
  • Enabled leadership to identify pipeline bottlenecks and conversion gaps
  • Improved visibility into broker and team performance
  • Provided real-time insights for faster, data-driven decisions
  • Delivered an always-up-to-date reporting system through automated daily data synchronization

Engine Capital now has complete visibility across its lending operations, allowing management to focus on growth rather than gathering data.
